Over 3,700 brands advertised on television in H1 2023: TAM Media
GEC ad volumes saw a 5% rise in Jan-Jun’23 compared to Jan-Jun’22, as per TAM Media’s half yearly report on advertising on GEC channels. According to the report, ‘HUL’ topped the list in GEC advertising during Jan-Jun’23, while ‘Harpic Power Plus 10x Max Clean’ was the top brand on GECs. During both Jan-Jun’23 and Jan-Jun’22, ‘Hindi GEC’ was the leading genre for advertising with 24% share of ad volumes.
Jan-Jun’23 observed 9% growth in GEC ad volumes, whereas Jan-Jun’22 saw a minor 3% rise over Jan-Jun’21. GEC ad volumes saw a 5% rise in Jan-Jun’23 compared to Jan-Jun’22.
In Jan-Jun'23, ‘Food & Beverage’ was the leading Sector with 29% share of the GEC ad volumes, followed by ‘Personal Care/ Personal Hygiene’ sector with 22% share. ‘Auto’ is the only new entered sector in the Top 10 list of sectors during Jan-Jun’23. ‘Personal Healthcare’ and ‘Household Products’ saw positive rank shifts.
‘Toilet Soaps’ led the GEC categories during H1 2023. The Top 10 categories together added 40% share of the GEC ad volumes in Jan-Jun’23. As many as five categories in the Top 10 list were from the ‘Food & Beverages’ sector – Milk Beverages (No. 3), Biscuits (No. 6), Chocolates (No. 8), Aerated Soft Drinks (No. 9), and Tea (No. 10).
Among leading Advertisers on GEC, FMCG players dominated the Top 10 list. ‘HUL’ topped the list, followed by ‘Reckitt’ in GEC advertising during Jan-Jun’23. The Top 10 advertisers together added 62% share of the GEC ad volumes during Jan-Jun’23. ‘Godrej Consumer Products’ and ‘ITC’ observed positive rank shifts. ‘Britannia Industries’ moved up by seven positions in the rankings, securing a place among the Top 10.
During Jan-Jun’23, total 3.7K+ brands were present on Television. The Top 10 Brands contributed 12% share of the Television ad volumes. Five out of the Top 10 brands were from ‘HUL’ and remaining five from ‘Reckitt’. ‘Harpic Power Plus 10x Max Clean’ was the top brand on GEC during Jan-Jun’23.
Over 150+ Categories registered positive growth during this period. ‘Toilet Soaps’ category saw highest increase in Ad secondages, with growth of 91%, followed by ‘Toilet/ Floor Cleaners’ with 50% growth during Jan-Jun’23 compared to Jan-Jun’22.
During both Jan-Jun’23 and Jan-Jun’22, ‘Hindi GEC’ was the leading genre for advertising, with 24% share of the ad volumes. The Top 5 channels genres accounted for 70% share of the ad volumes during both Jan-Jun’23 and Jan-Jun’22.
