P&G Health, FOGSI launches '12 Ka Naara' campaign
To address the widespread health issue of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in India, P&G Health India has launched the '12 Ka Naara' campaign in collaboration with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI). The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining optimal hemoglobin (Hb) levels, while providing free Hb testing, health expert guidance, and community education across 21 cities in 13 states.
According to the latest National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), 57% of Indian women suffer from anemia, with symptoms like tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, and headaches often going unnoticed until the condition becomes severe. The '12 Ka Naara' campaign seeks to bridge the gap between awareness and action, encouraging early detection and education around anemia, specifically highlighting the importance of achieving and maintaining an optimal Hb level of 12.
Milind Thatte, Managing Director of Procter & Gamble Health Limited, commented: "With anemia affecting such a large portion of the population, it is crucial to promote early detection and timely intervention. P&G Health’s Livogen has long been committed to this cause through initiatives like the 'Na Na Anemia Bus Yatra,' which brought diagnosis, treatment, and management to rural areas. '12 Ka Naara' is a continuation of that effort, empowering urban women with the tools to manage their health proactively."
Dr. Jaydeep Tank, President of FOGSI, added: "Iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in India. If left untreated, it can have adverse effects on physical growth and development. We are pleased to partner with P&G Health once again for '12 Ka Naara,' which will see doctors from 21 FOGSI chapters actively participating in efforts to educate communities on optimal hemoglobin levels and the importance of early medical intervention."
This large-scale initiative includes free hemoglobin testing, expert medical advice, and awareness programs to ensure timely intervention, improving the quality of life for millions of women across India.
