Paramount and Football Australia Sign Long-Term Broadcast Deal
Paramount Australia and Football Australia have signed a multi-year, multi-platform agreement to broadcast an expanded selection of CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos games on Network 10 and Paramount+ in Australia, extending through 2028.
This deal makes Network 10 and Paramount+ the exclusive broadcasters of all Australian Women’s Senior National Team matches for the next four years, covering events such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and the LA 2028 Summer Olympics. It also includes Men’s Senior National Team matches, including all AFC Asian Qualifiers (excluding the FIFA World Cup 2026).
Football Australia, in partnership with IMG, secured this agreement, ensuring that 96% of Australian households can access coverage of their favorite national teams.
The deal consolidates rights under one broadcaster for key events like the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027, the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, and international friendlies for both the Matildas and Socceroos.
In line with Paramount Australia’s commitment to supporting emerging talent, fans can immediately benefit by watching the CommBank Young Matildas compete in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024. The Young Matildas will play against Colombia in the tournament's marquee match on August 31st and September 1st.
Football Australia CEO James Johnson remarked, “This landmark agreement with Paramount Australia is a pivotal moment for Australian football. It brings unprecedented exposure to our national teams and provides fans with unparalleled access to the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos... We look forward to our continued partnership with Paramount Australia... as we navigate future opportunities and challenges in the dynamic media landscape."
Beverley McGarvey, President of Network 10 and Paramount Australia’s Head of Streaming and Regional Lead, highlighted the benefits for fans, saying, “Never before have fans had such incredible access to the sport they love... All CommBank Matildas’ games at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 will be telecast by Network 10 on free-to-air television as will all Matildas’ games in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.”
Over the four-year agreement, more than 100 international matches will be broadcast, with at least 50 games available on free-to-air television.
AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John expressed satisfaction with the extended partnership, stating, “The AFC is pleased to extend our partnership with Football Australia... as we aim to elevate viewership to new heights."
Dale Levin, SVP & Head of Commercial, APAC for IMG’s media business, added, “This package represents a new era for Australian Football... Now fans can enjoy exclusive CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos coverage on one network for the first time.”
