PepsiCo names Mark Kirkham new North America Beverages CMO

According to recent media reports, PepsiCo has announced the appointment of Mark Kirkham as the new Chief Marketing Officer for its North America Beverages division. Kirkham steps into the role previously held by Greg Lyons, who is reportedly leaving the company to pursue opportunities outside of PepsiCo.

Kirkham, a 15-year veteran of the company, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He recently served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sparkling Brands and has also held significant international leadership roles, including Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo International Beverages. His background encompasses insights, innovation, and global brand building, making him a seasoned leader in the beverage industry.

This change in leadership comes at a crucial time for PepsiCo's beverage business. The company is actively focusing on expanding its healthier beverage options and revitalizing its brand portfolio to appeal to modern consumers. Kirkham's experience in developing and launching successful campaigns, such as the Pepsi Zero Sugar Challenge and the global Pepsi rebrand, positions him well to lead these efforts.
Reports indicate that Ram Krishnan, CEO of PepsiCo Beverages North America, praised Kirkham's "imaginative approach to scalable problem solving," highlighting his skills as a "multi-disciplined marketer and creative storyteller."

The appointment occurs amidst a competitive landscape where PepsiCo and Coca-Cola are vying for market share, particularly in the growing zero-sugar beverage segment. With consumers increasingly prioritizing health and wellness, both companies are investing heavily in marketing campaigns that promote their healthier alternatives. Kirkham's expertise in this area is expected to be a significant asset as PepsiCo navigates these evolving market dynamics.
