Prada Nears landmark deal to acquire Versace for €1.5 billion
The luxury fashion industry is set for a major shake-up as Italian powerhouse Prada inches closer to acquiring Versace from Capri Holdings in a deal valued at approximately €1.5 billion ($1.6 billion or ₹14,000 crore). According to Bloomberg News, the transaction could be finalized as early as March if discussions continue to progress smoothly.
Sources indicate that the initial due diligence process did not flag any major risks, accelerating negotiations between the two luxury giants. While the final terms, including the deal’s timing and valuation, remain fluid, the acquisition would mark a historic consolidation of two legendary Italian fashion houses under Prada’s banner.
Prada has remained tight-lipped on the development, and Capri Holdings, which acquired Versace in 2018 for €1.83 billion (including debt), has yet to comment. However, reports suggest that Prada was given priority access to Versace’s financial data, positioning it ahead of other potential buyers.
If completed, the deal would significantly reshape the global luxury landscape, solidifying Prada’s standing as a dominant force in high fashion.
