Print ad volumes up 37% in July 2021, compared to July 2020: TAM AdEx

Ad Space in Print rose by 37% in Jul’21 compared to Jul’20, according to TAM AdEx’s comparative analysis of print advertising in July 2021 vis-a-vis July 2020. Over 70 new categories, 15.9K+ new advertisers and 19.1K+ new brands were seen in Print during Jul’21 over Jul’20.

Comparing five weeks of July, Ad Space in all five weeks of Jul’21 saw increase over same weeks of Jul’20. Week 1 of Jul’21 saw the highest growth of 57%, compared to the same week of Jul’20, while Weeks 3 and 4 of Jul’21 saw the lowest increase of 29%.

Comparing Jul’21 to Jul’20, the total number of categories increased by 5%, while the total number of advertisers and brands increased by 16% each. Multiple Courses and Cars among the categories have maintained their Top 2 positions in Jul’21 over Jul’20. Four out of the Top 10 categories were new entrants during Jul’21. The Top 10 categories had a 41% share of the print Ad Space. Retail Outlets-Jewellers, which was placed in the 25th position in Jul’20, climbed up t the 5th spot in Jul’21; while Consumer Durables/ Home Appliances, moved up from 27th position in Jul’20 to the 7th rank in Jul’21.

Hospital/ Clinics among the categories saw highest increase in Ad Space with growth of 95%, followed by Properties/ Real Estates with 2x growth during Jul’21 compared to Jul’20. Over 280 growing categories were present in Jul’21, compared to Jul’20 in Print.

SBS Biotech was the top advertiser during both Jul’21 and Jul’20 in Print. Tictok Skill Games, ranked 6th, exclusively advertised during Jul’21, compared to Jul’20. LIC of India had highest positive rank shift to enter the Top 10 list during Jul’21 over Jul’20. The Top 10 advertisers added 20% share of the Ad Space in Print during Jul’21.

Maruti Car Range was the top brand in Print during Jul’21, followed by Prestige Range. Four of the Top 10 brands with ranks 3 (Winzo Games), 6 (Kia), 8 (LIC) and 10 (Amazon.in) were exclusive to Jul’21, compared to Jul’20. The highest up shift in rankings was seen for SBI-Corporate during Jul’21, compared to Jul’20. The Top 10 brands grabbed 11% share of the Ad Space in Jul’21.

More than 70 new categories, 15.9K+ new advertisers and 19.1K+ new brands were seen in Jul’21 over Jul’20. Events-BFSI was the top new category, followed by Wearable Devices in Jul’21 compared to Jul’20. Tictok Skill Games was the top new advertiser in Jul’21 over Jul’20, followed by Netflix International. Winzo Games topped among the new brands, followed by Kia in Jul’21 compared to Jul’20.
