PwC becomes OpenAI's largest customer

OpenAI has announced a major partnership with PwC, a consulting giant, that could revolutionize how businesses utilize AI.

PwC will become OpenAI's largest customer to date, with 100,000 users across the US, UK, and the Middle East. Additionally, PwC will be the first company to resell ChatGPT Enterprise, a subscription tier offering increased speed, unlimited interactions, and customization options.

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Enterprise in August 2023 to monetize its AI products. This tier caters to businesses by providing features like faster processing, data analysis tools, and the ability to build custom AI models for specific tasks. However, convincing companies to transition from limited use to large-scale adoption remains a challenge.

For PwC, this deal signifies a belief in AI's role in transforming their business and attracting new clients. The company views ChatGPT as a tool to enhance productivity without necessarily replacing employees.

PwC's early adoption of ChatGPT positions them well to leverage the enterprise tier's capabilities. They've already built tools around ChatGPT and plan to focus on developing workflows and business process improvements rather than building custom solutions.

The number of daily GenAI users at PwC remains undisclosed, but training materials have seen a 90% engagement rate. More importantly, PwC sees generative AI as a potential new revenue stream through consulting services focused on digital transformation.

OpenAI offers self-service and consumer versions of ChatGPT at $30 and $20 per user, respectively. Enterprise pricing is not public, but estimates suggest it could be significantly higher. While OpenAI has its own customer success team, PwC's role as a reseller indicates a growing partner ecosystem to support enterprise adoption.

This partnership is a significant development for both companies. OpenAI gains a major customer and a valuable channel partner, while PwC positions itself at the forefront of AI integration in the business world.
