Retrograde Amnesia, Forward-Moving Flop: 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' Forgets the Funny

This week's Bollywood offering has Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. The last time the two came together in The Ladykiller (2023), we got an all time low record of Rs. thirty eight thousand pan India collection. Apparently, Mere Husband Ki Biwi has grossed a crore plus collection on its first day, which can be called a significant improvement over their previous collaboration.

Not that the film is anything to rave about, Arjun Kapoor plays a good-for-nothing Punjabi munda, who sails through a divorce from his fiery feisty wifey (Bhumi Pednekar). Even as he is about to get lucky again with his college hottie (Rakul Preet), his ex-wife re-enters his life with retrograde amnesia.

Sadly, the humour appears contrived, the couple chemistry is non-existent and all performances are sub-standard. Arjun Kapoor sleepwalks through the lead role as if he was forced to sign the movie at gunpoint. An otherwise impressive Bhumi Pednekar hams it up with her ill-written role. I am curious to know what motivated her to accept it. Rakul Preet has precious nothing to do. Veterans like Shakti Kapoor, Kanwaljeet Singh and Anita Raj are hopelessly wasted.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi is a strictly average fare, which should've ideally gone for a direct OTT release. With Chhaava running riot in its second week, this one stands absolutely no chance whatsoever!!
