R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya is a show based on the works of noted cartoonist R.K. Laxman. The episodes and incidents involve the happenings in the life of ‘The Common Man’ and represent his hopes, aspirations, troubles, and struggles in a light hearted manner. Starting November 28th, SAB TV the show will air every Mon-Friday at 9:30 p.m.
R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya focuses on the character of ‘The common Man’ who, is a silent spectator of marching time and confronts India's latest heartbreak with a kind of wry resignation. The meek and silent Common man character, a witness to everything, scheming politicians, gossiping housewives and rapacious bureaucrats, has been hugely successful because it represents the true Indian middle class. The series aims at depicting our happiness and sorrows and our indifference towards things going around us.
Mr. Anooj Kapoor, Executive VP & Business Head SAB TV said that, “We at SAB have always believed in presenting our viewers with real, innovative and fresh concepts with a comical twist. SAB TV is India’s leading light-hearted family entertainment channel and the fact that R K Laxman’s cartoons always took a light-hearted view of serious issues makes R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya a perfect fit to be aired on SAB TV.”
Produced by J D Majethia (Hats off Productions) and Dharmesh Mehta (NamanRaj Productions Pvt. Ltd), the show will see prominent artists like Atul Parchure essaying the common man, Vandana Pathak as his wife, Deepak Ghirwale as the retired Sanskrit teacher and many more.
Set in the suburbs of Mumbai, the show addresses the issues of middle-class Indians through the lives of Bhavesh Vasavada and his family, which includes his wife Baku, a retired father and two daughters. Day to day problems like the rising fuel prices, flawed education system and corruption affect our daily lives & R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya is about how a middle-class family faces up to them. The show will have two generations of the common man. The character Bhavesh Vasavada will represent the current generation whereas Ghirwale, 75, who plays his father, will belong to the older generation and also physically resemble Laxman’s cartoon character.
R.K. Laxman Ki Duniya promises viewers across India an entertaining, fun, family time together on every week from Monday to Friday 9.30 pm onwards from 28th November exclusively on SAB TV.
