Salesforce, Google expand partnership to advance AI-powered agents

Salesforce and Google have announced a major expansion of their strategic partnership, providing businesses with greater flexibility in building and deploying AI-powered agents. In today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape, companies need adaptable solutions rather than being locked into a single model provider. This partnership empowers customers to develop tailored AI strategies that best suit their needs.

Google Cloud, a leader in enterprise AI, enables millions of developers to build with its Gemini models on AI-optimized infrastructure. Through this expanded collaboration, Salesforce customers can now build Agentforce agents using Gemini and deploy Salesforce on Google Cloud. This builds on the existing partnership, which allows seamless data exchange between Google BigQuery and Salesforce via zero-copy technology.
Leaders on the Partnership

Srini Tallapragada, Salesforce President & Chief Engineering and Customer Success Officer, emphasized the partnership’s flexibility:
“Through our expanded partnership with Google Cloud, we’re giving customers choice in the applications and models they want to use. Salesforce offers a complete agentic AI platform, while Google Cloud provides powerful AI development tools. Together, we’re enabling businesses to scale with digital labor.”

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the infrastructure advantages:

“Salesforce’s selection of Google Cloud as a major infrastructure provider allows enterprise customers to deploy critical applications securely, with minimal friction. This expansion accelerates AI transformation by integrating agentic AI, advanced AI models, and data analytics.”

Fiona Tan, CTO of Wayfair, noted the practical benefits:

“The Salesforce-Google Cloud partnership enhances AI capabilities, enabling deeper personalization and more efficient customer interactions.”
Why This Matters

Agentic AI is already transforming industries, representing a $2 trillion market opportunity. According to Salesforce, 84% of CIOs believe AI will be as transformative as the internet. To fully capitalize on this potential, businesses need AI strategies centered on data, AI, trust, and action.

• Data: Secure, unified access with zero-copy architecture eliminates silos and enhances insights.
• AI: A broad selection of predictive, generative, and multi-modal AI models offers businesses maximum flexibility.
• Trust: Multi-layered security, encryption, and robust AI safeguards ensure responsible deployment.
• Actions: Seamless automation and integrations streamline workflows for increased efficiency.

Key Integrations: Agentforce & Google Search

Agentforce will leverage Google Search through Vertex AI, allowing AI agents to access real-time information. For instance, in supply chain management, an AI agent could track shipments in Salesforce Commerce Cloud while analyzing real-time data—such as weather conditions and port congestion—to predict disruptions.

Unlocking Choice & Flexibility in AI

By 2025, Google’s Gemini models will be available for reasoning and prompt-building directly within Agentforce. This integration offers:
• Multi-modal capabilities: AI can process images, voice, and text, enabling smarter interactions.
• Expanded context understanding: A 2-million-token context window allows AI to retain and reference vast information, from codebases to customer histories.
• Enhanced speed and efficiency: Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) power real-time responses, reducing operational costs.

For example, in insurance claims processing, Agentforce could analyze a claimant’s photos, audio witness statements, and text data to streamline approvals and provide faster resolutions.

Salesforce on Google Cloud: Security & Trust

Salesforce’s Agentforce, Data Cloud, and Customer 360 will now be available on Google Cloud’s AI-optimized infrastructure, ensuring security through dynamic grounding, zero data retention, and Einstein Trust Layer’s safeguards.

This expanded partnership marks a significant step toward AI-driven enterprise transformation, offering businesses the tools and flexibility to build advanced, responsible AI solutions.
