Sanjay Dutt joins Gonasika as Brand Ambassador for HIL

Gonasika, the Men’s team from Vizag in the upcoming revamped Hockey India League (HIL), has announced Bollywood icon Sanjay Dutt as the team’s brand ambassador for its inaugural season.
The team, led by Head Coach Jagbir Singh and Mentor M.M. Somaya, will begin its HIL campaign with the opening fixture against Delhi SG Pipers on December 28, at the iconic Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
Known for his memorable roles in films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Vaastav, Sanjay Dutt brings his star power and love for sports to the Gonasika team, further elevating the excitement around the league. His association is expected to significantly raise the profile of both the team and the Hockey India League.

It's a privilege to support this fantastic team as they embark on their journey in the Hockey India League,” said Sanjay Dutt. “I want to extend my heartfelt admiration to Tarini Prasad Mohanty and his son Abrid Mohanty, whose passion and vision have brought this team to life. Their commitment to promoting hockey and empowering young talent is truly inspiring. I’m thrilled to be part of this family, supporting them to make Gonasika Vizag a powerhouse in the league,” he added.
The Gonasika squad, formed at the recent HIL Auction, includes star Indian players such as Manpreet, Mandeep, Birendra Lakra, S.V. Sunil, S.L. Uthappa, and Nikkin Thimmaiah, along with young talents like Araijeet Singh Hundal and Vishnukant Singh. International players in the squad include FIH Rising Star of the Year 2022 Timothee Clement, Australian Timothy Howard, and a strong British contingent featuring Oliver Payne, Jack Waller, Jacob Draper, Lee Morton, and Struan Walker.
Tarini Prasad Mohanty, owner of Gonasika, expressed his excitement, saying: “We are thrilled to have Sanjay Dutt as our brand ambassador.
