SC warns Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc, the luxury pen brand has got a notice from the Supreme Court for using Mahatma Gandhi's as a poster boy for commercial gains.
Two lawyers had filed a public interest petition to restrain Mont Blanc company from using Mahatma Gandhi as a poster boy for commercial gains.
The court has also sought Indian government's stand on the issue. Mont Blanc has launched two versions of fountain pens in October 2009 in the name and style of "Limited Edition 241' and "Limited Edition 3,000', with their 18-karat gold nibs carrying the engravings of a lathi-wielding' Mahatma Gandhi.
As per reports, this petition has also challenged Tushar Gandhi's decision to allow Mont Blanc to use his great-grandfather Gandhi's name.
The pens launched by the luxury brand are worth Rs 12 lakh each.
