Scarecrow helps Quikr to create new brands for IPL!
Quikr is back with a highly disruptive campaign for IPL. Created by Scarecrow Communications, the three-film campaign features Murli Sharma talking to camera. Next to him, is a cricketer who wasn’t bought by any franchise during the IPL auction.
Murli goes on to say that if only the player was a laptop, he would have found many buyers, thanks to Quikr. The moment he says that, the player transforms into a durable with the player’s name as the branding! This is followed by potential buyers thronging the durable and the signature properties of the SOLD symbol and the now-famous Quikr audio mnemonic.
Says Pranay Chulet, Founder and CEO, Quikr,”The campaign explains to the audience of the largest TV event in India the benefits of selling things at the largest classified platform in India. It basically says they will find more buyers on Quikr and they’ll find them quikr.”
Says Raghu Bhat, Founder Director, Scarecrow Communications, “A second saved is a second earned. When media costs are high, brands that can tell a story and create magic in 10 seconds will have the edge. This campaign is yet one more affirmation of our ability to create compelling content in minimum time.”
Says Sarvesh Raikar, Creative Director, Scarecrow, “We are happy to carry forward Quikr’s legacy of quirky humour through these topical ads. If you hear carefully, we are cheating on the words by saying IBL instead of IPL. The reason is - another campaign called IBL - Indian Becho League has been launched in a big way on radio.”
Anecdote from the shoot: Murli Sharma revealed that he had committed to the shoot without even reading the scripts. The reason for this was, the last film for Quikr - Riot had won him more recognition than all his 55 movies, including special praise from eminent directors like Mani Ratnam and Rohit Shetty.
