Shazi Zaman moves on as Group Editor, ABP News Network
Shazi Zaman, Group Editor, ABP News Network, has put in his papers. As Group Editor, Zaman has been responsible for editorial content of all the three channels of the ANN network, namely ABP News, ABP Ananda and ABP Majha and the websites – abpnews.in, abpmajha.in, abpananda.in and newsbullet.in.
Zaman had joined ABP News as Senior Executive Producer after moving on from his post as Executive Producer at Aaj Tak. He started as a correspondent with Doordarshan in 1988 and has almost 30 years of journalistic experience. He worked as a Producer with BBC World Service, London, from 1996 to 1999. He then moved on to Zee News as Editor, a position he held up until 2001.
Commenting on the development, Avinash Pandey, COO, ABP News Network (ANN), said, “Mr Shazi Zaman has decided to move on for better career prospects after an illustrious 13-year stint at the company. We thank Mr Zaman for his role in shaping the content of our channels and building a dynamic editorial team. We will honour his legacy and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
With a flair for fiction, Zaman is also an established Hindi novelist and short story writer. He is well known for his work – ‘Premgali Ati Sankri’ – a story that deals with complexities of gender relations.
A graduate in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, Zaman has been trained in electronic media journalism by Thomson Foundation, CNN, BBC World Service Training, and Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
