Shubhra Sethi to Lead Entertainment Ad Sales Strategy at Jiostar
Shubhra Sethi has been appointed as the Head of Entertainment Ad Sales Strategy at Jiostar, where she will oversee the monetization strategy across both TV and digital platforms. With over 20 years of expertise in revenue generation and business strategy, Sethi has been instrumental in driving substantial growth for major brands.
At Disney-Star, Sethi played a key role in formulating and executing the monetization plan for the Indian Premier League (IPL), contributing to a significant revenue surge over five years. Her professional background spans strategic business planning, product development, B2B marketing, and data analytics, having managed ad sales growth across multiple entertainment verticals.
Previously, Sethi served as EVP and Head of Product, Revenue Strategy, and Customer Marketing for Sports at Disney-Star. In this role, she was responsible for driving revenue across various properties such as IPL, Pro-Kabaddi League, and the Indian Super League, while also fostering partnerships with top agencies and clients across sectors like telecom, FMCG, and e-commerce.
In her new position at Jiostar, Sethi will report to Ajit Varghese, the Head of Revenue, Entertainment, and International. Her appointment comes following the finalization of a joint venture between Reliance Industries, Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company. This JV, valued at Rs 70,352 crore (US$8.5 billion), combines the media assets of Viacom18, JioCinema, and Star India, making it one of the largest media entities in India. With RIL holding a 56% stake and contributions from Disney (36.84%) and Viacom18 (46.82%), the JV will operate over 100 TV channels and create more than 30,000 hours of content annually, reaching a digital subscriber base of over 50 million across its platforms.
