Silent Olympiad 2012 in Mumbai

SILENT OLYMPIAD 2012, an initiative by Bombay Round Table 19 is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 18th February 2012 .  In its past editions the event has received an over-whelming response from across the country with participation from over 800 students each year. This year the event will be held at The Sports Authority of India Complex, Mumbai from 17th – 18th February 2012.

SILENT OLYMPIAD has transcended from being only a track & field competition and has extended to various other aspects such as cultural competitions, educational heritage visits among others. The Bombay Round Table 19 team is, today working towards identifying talented and aspiring students in the field of athletics. Efforts are on to find partners who can properly train and guide these children & groom them to represent India in the Special Olympics.

The students participating for SILO 2012 are over 800 from over 30 schools across India. The track & field events are broken up across age groups to enable children to compete effectively. The races include 200m race, 4 x 100m relay, shot put & long jump for the seniors (again divided into 2 age groups among others)

In addition to this a cultural dance competition is planned for Friday, 17th February 2012 at The Rambaug Hall, Matunga with cinestar & TV actor Mr. Raman Trikha as the chief guest.

Hospitality arrangements are hosted by Rambaug, The Bharatiya Fine Arts Sabha & SIES High School, Matunga.
