Skin & Hair Care Tips for Holi
The joyous festival of Holi is meant to celebrate the arrival of Spring and the colors used in Holi are to reflect the various hues of spring season. However, along with the joy of celebrating a marvelously colorful festival comes a fear of damaged skin or hair. Oriflame Marketing Director Sharmili Rajput brings to you some essential skin & hair care tips so you can forget all worries and enjoy this festival to the fullest!
Before Holi
Do not indulge in any beauty treatment, including facial, waxing or threading, three days before and after Holi.
To protect your skin from damage, apply a thick layer of coconut or almond oil as they are thick in texture and will protect your skin from harmful Holi colors. Make sure you apply the oil on all possible exposed parts including the neck, feet and arms. After application, let the oil be absorbed for about 15 minutes. You can use Oriflame’s Swedish Spa Wonder Oil which contains ginger, coconut and sweet almond oils for extra protection
Sunscreen helps against sun tan and burn, so apply thick layers of a waterproof sunscreen lotion of SPF 20 or more. Apply Oriflame’s Sun Care Cream with SPF 20 half an hour before you start playing with the colors
Soak your hair liberally with Oriflame Nature Coconut Hair Oil and make sure you apply it on the roots & the scalp as well. Pull up your hair in a bun to reduce the risk of damage
On your lips, apply Oriflame’s Tender Care Lip Balm that contains beeswax, olive oil and echium oil for nourishment and protection
Nails are the worst affected. Apply a thick coat of dark-colored nail paint before playing Holi. Apply oil and massage your hands, fingers and cuticles. Use Oriflame’s Tender Care for your nails. Apply it beneath the nails and also over it. This prevents permanent staining of your nails and adjacent area
After Holi
First, wash your hair with plain water so that most of the color comes off. Then use a mild or homemade shampoo or Oriflame’s Nature Secrets Shampoo for dry and damaged hair. Apply conditioner after shampoo
To remove the Holi colors, first wash with cold water. Rub some lemon wedges over the skin, and then wash it off. Use a soft cleanser or a homemade milk and besan scrub to wash your skin. Scrub the affected areas with Oriflame’s Swedish Spa Exfoliating Body Scrub and lips for a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid very hot water as it causes dryness
Apply moisturizer on the entire body immediately after the bath as the skin gets dehydrated and dull after washing off the color. Use Oriflame’s Ultra Rich Body Milk with Sunflower Oil for intensive nourishment and lasting hydration
Later, apply a mixture of glycerin, sea salt and a few drops of aroma oil or almond oil on skin to counter any negative effects of chemicals
