SRK’s ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ sees an amazing re-release run

Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta’s film, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, was re-released in theatres on November 15, 2024, 21 years after it had originally hit the theatres. Directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Karan Johar, the romantic drama was well-received by audiences, making it the highest-grossing film of that year. Shah Rukh Khan and the rest of the cast were praised for their performances, and the film is remembered for its hit songs such as ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘It’s the Time To Disco’, ‘Maahi Ve,’ and the soulful title track, all composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

Despite minimal promotion for its re-release, the film has managed to perform well in its second run. As per the latest updates, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ has earned approximately Rs 3.15 crore on the 10th day. Over two weeks, the film has been doing well at the box office, showing growth in the second weekend.

Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan’s other hit film, ‘Karan Arjun,’ directed by Rakesh Roshan and featuring Salman Khan, Kajol, and Mamta Kulkarni, was also re-released on November 22. However, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ has surpassed the collection of the newly re-released reincarnation drama, which originally released in 1995. According to reports, ‘Karan Arjun’ has collected approximately Rs 1.08 crore in the opening weekend.

Following the major Diwali clash between Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ and Kartik Aryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit Nene’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, there have not been major big releases planned in Hindi. This is one of the reasons why other re-releases and some mid-level films, like ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which is said to have earned more than Rs 23.46 crore, are doing well at the box office.

The next big pan-Indian release is Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Pushpa 2,’ which is set to hit the big screen on December 5.
