Star Plus partners Hindustan this election season to encourage viewers to cast their vote

Continuing with its path-breaking innovation for its customers, STAR PLUS, India's leading Hindi entertainment channel takes yet another path breaking initiative to take entertainment beyond television and impact people's lives. In a historic, one-of-a-kind collaboration never seen before between two media companies, STAR PLUS partners with Hindustan, one of India's most widely read Hindi dailies, to launch a campaign "Everybody must vote" that encourages viewers to vote during this election period. A campaign that goes beyond entertainment and shifts its focus on helping its viewers shape well-informed public opinion.

Through this election period, three of Star Plus's most popular household names ' Pratigya, Saanchi and Sandhya ' will be seen motivating the viewers to cast their votes through a series of promos that will run on the channel.

"This joint initiative with Hindustan is a testimony to our commitment to make a difference to the lives of its viewers and society at large and is very much in keeping with the channel's signature - 'Rishta Wohi, Soch Nayi.' We are confident that it will create an important point of engagement and interaction between our viewers, "said Mr. Nitin Vaidya, Business Head, Hindi Channels, Star Plus.

These three characters are the most influential women on television currently, as their progressive outlook to life has helped them fight battles and are inspiring female viewers to be stronger everywhere. Pratigya has always stood up for her rights and for some of the basic injustices inflicted on women. Saanchi of the show Ruk Jaana Nahin, is a young, 19-year-old college-going girl, who has always used her intelligence, wit and sense of humour to accomplish her goals. Sandhya of the show Diya Aur Baati Hum is an ambitious girl from Pushkar is always subtly fighting for respect and power in the traditional family she is married into.

"Voting for the right person to rule your state is the only way to make sure peace trumps violence in our society," advises Pratigya.

"Voting is a very important right of every citizen of India, and we must all exercise that right. The country's progress lies in the hands of the government. Vote to provide a better future for yourself and your children," says Saanchi.

"Everybody must vote, but make sure to do your research in order to make a well-informed decision. Voting is crucial in the societal progress of our country; an optimal functioning government is the only way we can eliminate illiteracy and provide better infrastructure for all citizens. Every vote counts," points out Sandhya.
