Star World Premiere HD airs the series finale of popular show Downton Abbey!
Downtown Abbey, airing on Star World Premiere HD, is the most dramatic show as one can ever be on television for all true-blue drama fans. The show, known to be the best offering that Britain entertainment has dished out to the world since Harry Potter, has received immense critical acclaim from television critics and won numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film, a BAFTA award and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. It went on to receive recognition by the Guinness World Records as ‘the most critically acclaimed English-language television series of 2011’ becoming the first British show to win the award beating American TV shows Mad Men and Modern Family to win the title.
Furthermore the show earned the most nominations of any international television series in the history of the Primetime Emmy Awards, with twenty-seven in total just after two seasons of the series. By the third series, it had become one of the most widely watched television shows in the world and went on to win 44 prestigious awards when they concluded with Season 5 of the show. Downton Abbey was nominated for 158 awards across television throughout the 5 seasons of the series.
With Season 6 being the finale season of the entire series, Star World Premiere HD gives Downton Abbey fans a Christmas special bonanza in its final episode so they can rejoice and weep at the same time. The send-off episode will offer all the love and loss, happiness and heartbreak of Downton Abbey. As the family and servants prepare to welcome 1926, they celebrate an unforgettable New Year’s Eve together at the great house.
While Mary endeavours to build bridges with Edith, Edith's secret continues to pose a threat. Will she get married to Bertie after Mary exposes her secret? Anna is pregnant, which could lead to all sorts of trauma. And so far, Mr. Carson has been more concerned about the pace of change in the Downton Abbey household than he has about his new wife Mrs. Hughes. Isobel receives devastating news and when the Greys' scheming takes a sinister turn, she and Violet join forces. Robert learns the value of independence, while the day that Anna and Bates have been waiting for arrives.
Above stairs, the big question is whether anybody dies – not least Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), whose death would well and truly hand the Downton Abbey estate on to a new generation. How much does the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) know, when she says “Every year, we drink to the future, whatever it may bring”? The Christmas Special will, most definitely, be a tear-jerker. Whichever way our favourite characters end their lives on the small screen, it will not fail to stir strong emotions in its millions of fans.
