Swiss and Indian artists portray their Cow
The Embassy of Switzerland is showing the Swiss-Indian exhibition “Look at MY Cow!” on Thursday, 16 December 2010, from 6.30pm on at the Embassy of Switzerland, Nyaya Marg, New Delhi.
The Swiss painter of modern cow portraits, Walter Lehmann is presenting 12 cow portraits along with cow paintings, photographs and sculptures by four Indian artists, Rohit Sharma, Rony Kaula, Sandeep Panwar and Debashish Mishra and the designer Ravi Shanker of Shava Creations. The exhibition is being presented by Mr. Pankaj Sahni of Artoholics Gallery.
On this occasion, the Alphorn player Bruno Bieri will interact in a jam session with Indian musicians.
This exhibition is presenting different views of the Cow and presents it in a creative and innovative way. With this in view, the Embassy also launched an art and craft project with different schools in Delhi as well as with the Pearl Academy of Fashion. As Mr. Walter Lehmann points out, every day we utilize so much of the cow products and yet art and craft continues to neglect this subject. Mr. Lehmann is very passionate about this animal and says “I chose them consciously as my subject, marking my respect and fascination for them. It gives me great joy to paint these cows in their natural form and expression, bringing them, their emotions and feelings to life with the colourful palette of my inner world.”
