The 42nd International Film Festival of India takes Indian films to the world

The 42nd International Film Festival of India, the 11 day film fiesta is set to culminate with a gala closing ceremony which will bring in glamour celebrities, awards for deserving films along with cultural programmes, while taking Indian films to the world.
While the opening ceremony saw star power of the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Rahul Khanna, Tisca Chopra gracing the occasion, the upcoming closing ceremony shall see the southern superstar Suriya, Bollywood stars Irfan Khan, R. Madhavan and Omi Vaidya along with other celebrities and cinema luminaries who are an integral part of the world cinema movement.
 
This festival which is billed as the ‘festival of change’ is in the words of the creator of the ‘Munnabhai’ series and Three Idiots, Vidhu Vinod Chopra “A festival which is on its way for getting its due across world cinematic markets and placing the Indian film industry on the global map. IFFI is an important vehicle for the growth of Indian cinema and its significance in promoting universal brotherhood is one of the basic tenets of the existence of IFFI.”
 
This year’s IFFI which brought for the audience exclusive cinema packages like ‘Indian Panorama’, ‘Cinema of the World’, ‘Retrospective’, ‘Homages’, ‘3D and Animation’, ‘Festivals Kaleidoscope and more, has brought in cutting edge technical changes and new additions to the festivals which has made this festival the harbinger of new Indian cinema. Festival Director Shri Shankar Mohan said, “This 42nd IFFI has been a festival of change, a festival which has brought in new additions to the festival making it more streamlined and more professional. We intend to continue the administration of the festival in a more organised way so that the delegates coming in here can enjoy the movies at the festival and be a part of this marquee film festival of India.”   
 
Shri Mike Pandey, the Chairman of the Steering Commitee said, “Through this 42nd International Film Festival of India we intend to bring about a sea change in the global outlook towards Indian cinema. This festival has brought in interesting movies and special discussion sessions which have brought about a global acceptability and I am sure that by marching in the same direction as the festival is moving, we can achieve a 360 degree acceptability of the festival across the globe.”
 
The 42nd International Film Festival of India on the closing night will also announce five special prizes for movies screened as a part of the international competition under the headings of a ‘Special Jury Prize’, ‘Best Male Actor’, ‘Best Female Actor’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Film’. The film festival will culminate into a glorious evening with a screening of the closing film ‘The Lady’ directed by Luc Besson which has Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis in lead roles.
