“The connection between India & Bharat is going to be built through gamingâ€
“We are at the cusp of a revolution of thoughts, where it’s not just about saying that ‘Hey, these are the statistics and therefore listen to us’, it is about changing lives and impacting people who are not just a part of the metros, but connect with us from every single city,” said Dr Subi Chaturvedi, Chief Corporate and Public Affairs Officer, Zupee. While delivering her keynote address on ‘Future of Gaming in India’ at the inaugural GAMEXX 2021 Summit & Awards held last week, Chaturvedi affirmed that, “The connection between India and Bharat is truly going to be built through gaming and gamification.”
She welcomed the coming together of India’s gaming stalwarts at GAMEXX and holding relevant discussions that are not just plainly about numbers, but start a serious conversation about putting India on the road to becoming the gaming hub of the world. She added that India has been doing rather well in this sunrise sector in India. “At least 43% of all gamers in India – and they currently stand at a sizeable number of 400 million – are women. Women are also spending money online and gaining a voice through gaming,” she observed.
Chaturvedi further said, “Zupee not only founded and pioneered transaction-based and competitive online gaming skills, but is championing it. We are encouraging similar conversations to take place across the country and we are also taking some of the most innovative games formats across the world.”
She observed that gaming became a truly a ‘black swan’ event during the pandemic and lockdown period, when people were looking at new and innovative formats to stay engaged, entertained as well as to relax, look at building communities, come together with like-minded people and not just staying locked up inside one’s homes. She also spoke about what the multiplayer gaming format does for one’s mental well-being and emotional health.
“When we talk about skill building, this is a very critical conversation that a lot of us need to have today. The World Economic Forum says that about 700 million Indians need to be skilled by 2030; this is a fairly large number if you look at traditional formats. So, when we say skill building, several research studies to point out that gaming leads to better strategy development skills, better decision making and enhanced motor skills,” Chaturvedi added.
