The era of hero and anti-hero is gone: Anurag Kashyap

Director Anurag Kashyap is not new to acting, he has played many important roles in various films and web series too. He will now be seen in a new web series, ‘Bad Cop’, on Hotstar along with Gulshan Devaiah. The series is directed by Aditya Dutt and is slated to release on June 21.

Anurag is seen essaying the role of a villain, Kazbe Mama, in this crime thriller. Speaking about doing negative characters, Anurag said, “The era of hero and anti-hero is gone, now everyone plays all the roles. However, people perceive me as a villain, though I don’t know the reason behind it.”

The director-turned-actor also revealed that he was not keen on doing action, but has done it for this series. “I keep telling people that cast me as the hero’s father, as he doesn’t have to do action. I am not in a condition to do it age wise and otherwise too. But I have done a lot of action in ‘Bad Cop’. I chose to do it because of producer Leena Tandon.”

Anurag has been away from films and series for a long time after he had faced health issues after his project ‘Maximum City’ was shelved when a platform backed out of it. In one of his earlier interviews, he had stated that he went into depression and had suffered heart problems. But now he is fit and fine and has been doing some acting projects. However, he also mentioned that his production house is also back on track and soon there might be some announcement regarding a fresh project.

Meanwhile, ‘Bad Cop’ will see Gulshan playing a double role of Karan and Arjun – one is a cop, while the other is a gray character. How their paths cross and their life gets intertwined is a story of this eight-part series.
