Tinder launches dating safety guide in 4 Indian languages
In anticipation of Safer Internet Day, Tinder, in collaboration with the Centre for Social Research (CSR), has launched its Tinder Dating Safety Guide in four Indian languages—Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and Bengali. CSR, a leading non-profit dedicated to fostering a safer and more equal world, has partnered with Tinder to provide insights and expertise on online safety, particularly concerning violence against women.
A recent Tinder survey revealed that "safety and security" ranked as the #1 priority for Indian singles before going on a first date with someone they met through a dating app. Additionally, 37% of respondents stated they would opt for a video call before an in-person meeting. By making the Tinder Dating Safety Guide available in regional languages, Tinder is addressing the needs of users who are more comfortable consuming educational content in their native tongue.
Through February 2025, Tinder users in India will see in-app cards highlighting the Tinder Dating Safety Guide, available for download in multiple languages. These cards will feature key insights from the guide and direct users to an online resource center for additional information on safe online and offline dating practices.
Leadership Perspectives on Safer Dating
Dr. Yoel Roth, Vice President of Trust & Safety at Match Group—Tinder’s parent company—emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing dating safety worldwide:
“For Safer Internet Day, we are launching the Tinder Dating Safety Guide in multiple languages, equipping young daters in India with essential tools and tips. Jyoti Vadehra, Digital Trust and Safety Lead at CSR, highlighted the organization’s role in advancing gender equality and online safety: “For over four decades, CSR has championed gender equality, with a strong focus on creating safer online spaces. Our collaboration with Tinder in developing this Dating Safety Guide, now in regional languages, allows us to reach a wider audience. We hope this guide empowers individuals, especially women, to navigate the online dating landscape with confidence and security.”
