Top 10 Hindi Films of 2024: A Perfect Mix of Innovation and Blockbusters

As we enter the new year, let me take you through my best rated Hindi films of 2024. I have included three South films dubbed in Hindi in my list as frankly, the Bollywood ones weren't matching up to them.

All set, here we go with my top 10 list (not in any particular order)...

1) CTRL : Exposing the dark side of AI and social media, Vikramaditya Motwane's CTRL turned out to be a truly unique and engaging OTT experience. And for a change, Ananya Panday actually impressed!!

2) Srikanth : A heart-warming & inspiring story of the visually challenged Srikanth Bolla; the biopic was further elevated by Rajkummar Rao's outstanding act.

3) Laapataa Ladies : Kiran Rao's thought provoking comedy drama might have missed the Oscar stage but definitely makes it to my top 10 list of 2024. A must-see movie if you still haven’t!!

4) Shaitaan : After the horrendous Ganapath (2023), director Vikas Bahl bounced back with this horror flick, which is a remake of a successful Gujarati movie. With superfine performances (Devgn and Madhavan) and a gripping screenplay, the audience got hooked to this devil.

5) Kalki 2898 AD : Despite its mixed reactions, I found Kalki a compelling watch, which warrants an A just for its sheer ambition and effort. And of course, the living legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in one film...who would miss!!

6) Maharaja : I went with zero expectations to watch the Hindi dub of the Tamil film Maharaja and Boy, was I blown away!! Easily the not-to-be-missed movie of 2024.

7) Crew : A heist and cleavage fare; the three girls had all the fun here with the males relegated to the sidelines. Clearly, Kareena Kapoor was the standout and I loved all her performances this year, including the not-so-successful The Buckingham Murders.

8) Madgaon Express : Another madcap comedy in my list, Madgaon Express was an impressive directorial debut by actor Kunal Khemu. The characters, situations and one-liners were simply ooh-laa-laa. And who can forget Chhaya Kadam as Kanchan Kombadi!!

9) Article 370 : After trendsetting URI (2019), Aditya Dhar produced this cleverly crafted retelling of the recent historic event, which changed Kashmir's DNA forever.

10) Pushpa 2 The Rule : The biggest mass dhamaka came in the last month of 2024 but had enough time to break every box office record in sight. Allu Arjun's swag, Rashmika Mandanna's charm, Fahadh Faasil's evil streak and Sukumar's extraordinary execution ensured Pushpa 2 The Rule became a bigger blockbuster than its popular prequel.
