TV this week: As Bigg Boss ends Colors takes No. 1 position

A major reshuffle has been seen in the Hindi GEC space  in week ending 12th January 2013. Colors has taken the no.1 position in Week 2 thus bringing Star Plus, the channel which had been leading for quite some time now, to second position. It may be recalled that Colors was at  No. 1 during Week 50 in 2012  with 239 GRPs(C&S, 4+, HSM) when Star Plus was at 231 GRPs.

It has also been seen that since the special programming that celebrated the New Year, Hindi GECs have seen a decline of 5 per cent in total GRPs according to viewership data with regard to Week 2 of TAM 2013.

As per the data sourced for week 6th -12th January from TAM subscribers for the CS+, HSM markets Colors has taken the no. 1 position with 245 GRPs (last week 253) inspite of losing eight points thus overtaking Star Plus who have lost by 46 points this week to slip into the 2nd position . The channel has recorded 241 GRPs as against last week’s 287 GRPs. Zee TV remains at No.3 with 196 GRPs  despite losing  15 points since last week they had recorded 211 GRPs . In the 4th position is Sony Entertainment Television . The channel gained 15 GRPs on the back of KBCs episodes which featured the Rs.5 crore winner and have thus recorded 195 GRPs as against last week’s 180 GRPs. No change is seen in the SAB TV and they continue with 150 GRPS and are in the same position as last week. But Life OK has been able to garner 117 GRPs on the back of Mahadev which has seen an improvement this week hence adding three points to last week’s 114 GRPS. The channel continues to remain in the sixth position and  is followed by Sahara One at No. 7, which has moved three points up to end the week with 26 GRPs.

Following are the TVR’s concerning the top listed shows: Balika Vadhu (Colors) leads the list of the most-watched programmes, with  a TVR of 5.58 followed by Sony’s KBC episode which featured the Rs 5-crore winner with a rating 5.09 TVR. Next on the list is Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma(Star Plus) with a rating of 4.99 TVR.  Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus is in the third spot with 4.72 TVRs, while another one of their properties Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, follows with 4.65 TVR to be in the fourth spot. The Bigg Boss 6 Finale on Colors rated 4.37 TVR and is now in fifth place  followed by Saathiya Saath Nibhana on Star Plus with 4.1TVR and Sasural Simar Ka on Colors (4.08 TVR). Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus, with  a rating of 3.91 TVR and Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon on Colors, with a rating of 3.89 TVR  are also two  of the most viewed programmes of the week. Life OK with the backing of Mahadev averaged at 3.0 TVR for week 6th -12th January 2013 as per TAM data.
