TV this week: Sony adds 48,804 TVT's this week but ranked #4

Independence Day programmes on television have impacted the TAM ratings in Week 33, 2013 resulting in a shuffle of positions of the Hindi GECs. On the back of line-up of movies on this occasion Sony saw an increase in viewership thus adding 48,804 TVT’s (Television Viewership in thousands) the highest this week to reach a  score of 349,377 GVTs (Gross Viewership in thousands) (300,573 last week) bringing the GEC to the 4th position. Life OK which had overtaken Sony and SAB last week with a significant raise in TVT’s is back once again to it’s original no.5 spot this week.

The Independence Day special programming line up, helped Sony gain 11,197 TVTs through the 3 movies telecast by the channel. Aashiqui 2 garnered 8096 TVTs from two telecasts. The first telecast at 12.30 pm registered 5238 TVTs while the second telecast at 6.30 pm fetched the movie 2858 TVTs. Fundraiser ‘Saath Hain Hum Uttarakhand’ on Star Plus recorded 1104 TVTs during the 7 hours telecast on 15th August.

In terms of GVTs, GECs have seen a down slide this week. As per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 33 (August 11 – August 17) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus still  leads in the no. 1 position recording 489,692 GVTs (505,715). Colors continues to be in the no. 2 spot and is the next to gain on the back of their weekend programming by adding 18,648 TVTs taking its score to 456,414 GVTs (437,766). Zee TV in the number three slot has registered 415,506 GVTs (424,270).  But TVTs of Life OK the channel which gained the maximum in week 32 has seen a dip this week and registered 303,478 GVTs (315,728). Not much change is visible in SAB TV ratings which recorded 293,433 GVTs (298,326) in week 33.

Now coming to the ratings of shows on the various GECs Diya aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continues to remain the most watched show on the channel as it recorded 11,166 TVTs (10,356). The other prime time show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai saw a huge increase with a  score of 7,284 TVTs (6,542). So also with Pyar Ka Dard Hai which recorded 6,503 TVTs (6,233) and Saathiya which registered 5,949 TVTs (5,525). A special event Saath Hai Hum Uttarakhand was aired on 15 August and this show registered a low score of 1,107 TVT but in total contrast the  new reality show Junior Master Chef on the channel witnessed a good start with a rating of 4,277 TVT.

Colors' dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is proving it’s popularity among audiences. The show generated 5,826 TVTs (5,299) on Saturday and 5,047 TVTs (4,503) on Sunday. The longest running fiction series Balika Vadhu seems to see a decline in viewership. The show registered 6,276 TVTs (6,644). Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon rated 4,304 TVTs (4,396) and the other longest running show on the channel Uttaran scored 4,839 TVTs (4,508). Comedy Nights with Kapil with a negligible rise has recorded 6,847 TVTs (6,831) and the new entrant Mrs Pammi Pyarelal does not seem to have caught eyeballs as the ratings of declined to record 1,575 TVTs (1,766).

Reality dance show DID Super Moms on Zee TV with it’s excellent performances recorded 5,893 TVTs (5,551) on Saturday and 5,498 TVTs (4,349) on Sunday. The new offering on the channel Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se has made an impressive start with 5,341 TVT. Qubool Hai saw an increase and registered 7,435 TVTs (7,188). While Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke registered a slight rise to record a score of 4,386 TVTs (4,332) historical show Jodha Akbar saw a significant growth scoring 6,011 TVTs (5,547) in week 33.
CID on Sony Entertainment Television recorded a score of 5,210 TVTs (5,177) and Crime Patrol witnessed a slight decline with a rating of 3,815 TVTs (3,859). Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe Mahabali ratings too have dipped and registered 2,482 TVTs (2,816). Not much change is seen in the channel's historical show Maharana Pratap which recorded 3,028 TVTs (3,139) almost the same as last week. Indian Idol Junior on the channel with good viewership on Saturday registered a score of 4,529 TVTs (4,351), but viewership seemed to have dipped on Sunday thus bringing the score to 4,279 TVTs (4,602). The new entrant Jee Le Zara on Sony scored 2,620 TVTs on the day the show was launched i.e 15th August.

On channel Life OK series Mahadev rated 3,426 TVTs (3,493), Do Dil Ek Jaan scored 1,721 TVTs (1,783), Savdhan India ratings dipped to record 2,653 TVTs (2,867), Shapath on the other hand saw a rise with 3,352 TVTs (3,088) and the new entrant Gustakh Dil registered a score of 1,624 TVTs (1,884).

SAB TV’s top chart fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah remains the  channel leader with a score of 7,070 TVTs (7,032). Chidiya Ghar and Jeanie Aur Juju both lost viewership  to  score 3,262 TVTs (3,412) and  2,049 TVTs (2,490) respectively.

Sahara One remains at the bottom of the list with a score of  34,398 TVTs (32,326).

Zee Cinema, in the movie channel genre, saw a rise, recording 252,322 GVTs (228,837); Star Gold witnessed a dip in ratings with 215,873 GVTs (219,247). Movies OK registered 137,781 GVTs (122,304) but Max saw a decline in viewership this week thus reporting  213,437 GVTs (232,253).
