TV this week: Star Plus on the verge of touching the 600 mn mark

With year 2013 drawing to a close it is seen that the pecking order of the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) have continued to remain the same since quite some time now. However the ratings of, the undisputed leader among Hindi GECs, channel Star Plus have soared exceptionally this week and is on the verge of crossing the 600 million mark. The channel is unabatedly widening the gap with second placed Colors which took an enormous leap, with maximum viewership in week 51. Shows on Life OK and SAB TV witnessed good traction and have picked up while on the other hand Zee and Sony lost eyeballs  as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 51 ( December 15 - December 21 ) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Following are the scores of the Hindi GECs for this week with previous week’s figures in the brackets:

With a rise in viewership Star Plus which leads among the GECs garnered 599,179 GVTs (579,369) with a relative share of 25.1% (24.76 %).
This week Colors is steady at no. 2. With increased viewership the channel this week has recorded 488,005 GVTs (448,658) and a relative share of 20.45% (19.20%).
Zee TV at no. 3 spot lost viewership and recorded 408,807 GVTs (439,271) with a relative share of 17.14% (18.78%).

Life OK remains stable in the 4th place though the channel garnered an increased score of gross 325,759 GVTs (312,956). The channel’s relative share was at 13.66% (13.39%).

SAB TV continues to be in the 5th spot and with a slight climb in its ratings has recorded 308,658 GVTs (291,060) with a relative share of 12.95% (12.45%).
Meanwhile Sony ratings saw a further slump in week 51 thus recording 254,912 GVTs (266,525) and the channel remains fixed at the 6th spot and indicates a relative share of 10.69% (11.42%).

Sahara One with 36,673 GVTs (36,001) in week 51 continues to remain at the bottom of the list.

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) with a dip in viewership registered 1459 TVTs (2021). Dance India Dance 4 registered 3870 TVTs (3821)   on Sunday and 4061 TVTs (6304) on Saturday                                               

On Star plus the most watched serial Ye Hai Mohabatein saw a minimum rise and recorded 2836 TVTs (2821). Nach Baliye 6 viewership dipped this week as the show registered 3766 TVTs (3918) and Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday on the channel grabbed viewership to record 7662 TVTs (7412)

Big Boss on Colors has been the cynosure of all eyes  as the show is drawing to a close . The reality show garnered 5989 TVTs as against last week’s 5706 TVTs. Weekend thriller serial ‘24’ ratings have picked up as it  recorded 3493 TVTs (2862) in week 51  & Comedy  Night with Kapil has witnessed a huge increase this week to record 8818 TVTs (7425).   

Meanwhile Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) on Sony Entertainment Television has recorded 3232 TVTs (3612).

The movie channels genre recorded the following GVTs this week: Zee Cinema saw a considerable rise in viewership thus registering 222,208 GVTs (208530), Star Gold ratings do not differ much from last week’s ratings with 163,219 GVTs (167,279). Movies OK too saw a negligible increase in viewership to record 125,734 GVTs (123,361). In contrast to last weeks’ ratings, movie channel &pictures managed to perk up thus recording 79,261 GVTs (70,567) for the channel. Zee Anmol ratings decreased marginally to record 64,638 GVTs (65,618) while movie channel Max with increased viewership has recorded a stupendous  jump in its ratings and garnered 214,123 GVTs (172,165)  as per data recorded  in week 51 of TAM, 2013.
