TV this week: The IPL and Distribution hassles have impacted all GECs in Week 14
With the eagerly awaited IPL making its presence felt on the small medium it is apparent that the GEC’s have taken a backseat in week 14 (March 31- April 6) of TAM 2013. Inspite of the IPL grabbing eyeballs this week, Star Plus has been able to retain its position although the channel has seen a marginal decrease of 7 points. Zee TV at no. 2 has lost 22 GRPs and though Sony’s GRP’s have dipped by 11 points the latter has managed to take the 3rd position thus overtaking Colors which is now at no.5 as per viewership data sourced from TAM subscribers for the CS 4+, HSM markets. Another interesting aspect of TAM, Week 14 is the opening match between KKR and Delhi Daredevils on April 3 which fetched a rating of 4.5 TVR for the IPL in HSM markets and 4.1 TVR in all-India market.
Popular actors of shows have been seen giving away ‘Nayi Soch Awards’ for innovative cricketing skills in every IPL match on Star Plus. This being an added advantage, the channel has registered 284 GRPs against last week’s 291 GRPs although the ratings have dipped by 7 points in Week 14.
Zee TV now in 2nd position plunged below the 200 mark this week . The channel lost 22 points and has garnered 185 GRPs (last week 207).
Sony Entertainment Television is now no.3 . The channel has succeeded in overtaking Colors by recording 164 GRPs as against last week’s 175 GRPs.
A significant slump is noticeable in Colors GRPs in Week 14. The channel presently in 4th position has recorded 156 GRPs , the lowest in recent times (last week 191). This can be attributed to the IPL and distribution problems on Hathway and GTPL.
SAB TV now at no.5 too has been affected to a great extent with the channel seen to be losing 23 points in Week 14. The channel has recorded 136 GRPs as against last week’s 159 GRPs.
At no. 6 is Life OK. The channel’s ratings have dipped by 9 points to garner 110 GRPs this week(last week 119)
Sahara One has fetched 18 GRPs (last week 22 GRPs)
Among the most watched shows, Diya Aur Baati Hum continues to be at the top of the list with 4.2 TVR. Pyaar Ka Dard and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai are in the second and third position with 3.5 and 3.3 TVR respectively.
The ratings of Balika Vadhu on Colors has continued to dip further with Toral Rasputra replacing Pratyusha Banerjee as Anandi in one of the popular shows on television recently. The show has garnered a low rating of 2.7 in Week 14. On the other hand Madhubala has emerged the no. 1 show on the same channel with a rating of 2.9 TVR.
