TV this week: Zee TV beats Colors in Nos race...!

In an unprecedented move Zee TV has surged ahead taking the 2nd spot among the Hindi GECs and  has displaced Colors from its original position as per TAM ratings for week 42 . Star Plus still the leader among the GECs has picked up once again and added maximum viewership this week thus widening the margin even further with the other channels. SAB TV too saw a considerable rise and notched up its ratings to overtake Life OK and Sony both of which saw a sizeable drop in viewership this week.

As per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 42  (October 13 - October 19) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus is the leader followed by Zee TV at no. 2,  Colors at no. 3. SAB TV has taken the no. 4 position bringing Life OK to no. 5 and  further loss in viewership has led Sony to be pushed to no. 6  this week.

Following are the details of GVT’s recorded by the Hindi GECs this week:  Star Plus still the leader at no. 1 has notched up its score significantly thus  reporting 517048  GVTs (464989) . Grabbing the 2nd spot in week 42 Zee TV recorded 409304 GVTs (406987) .The ratings of Colors now in the 3rd spot  dipped this week to register a score of   384496 GVTs (407337)      Meanwhile SAB TV ratings witnessed a huge jump and garnered  319214 GVTs (291781)  thus bringing the channel to 4th position this week.  Life OK is now at the  5th spot and   recorded a score of 316904 GVTs (344750).  A sharp plunge in viewership has brought Sony to the 6th spot and the channel recorded 292327 GVTs (313411) in week 42. Sahara One too saw a decrease as it  registered a  score of   32081  GVTs (33705) .
Star Plus added maximum 52 million in its Gross TVT with a relative share of 23.09% (last week 20.86% relative share). Zee TV held its viewers and dislodged Colors from No. 2 position by adding 2 million TVTs this week with 18.28% relative share. (18.26% relative share last week) Colors lost viewership by 22 million. The channel had relative share of 17.17% (last week 18.26% relative share). SAB TV recorded 14.26% relative share (last week 13.1% relative share). Life OK was pushed to No. 5 position after losing 28 million TVTs this week.  The channel’s relative share reduced to 14.15% in Week 42 against 15.48% in Week 41. Sony further lost 21 million viewers in week 42. The channel recorded 13.05% relative share (last week  14.04% of relative share).

Now moving on to the ratings of the most watched shows on the Hindi GECs: The two most popular shows on Star Plus,  Diya aur Baati Hum and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai both notched up their ratings to record 9981 TVTs (9243) and 6819 TVTs (6032)  respectively.  Pyar Ka Dard Hai saw a huge rise in viewership as it recorded 6878 TVTs (6250) while Saathiya notched up marginally to register 7007 TVTs (6314). The epic series Mahabharata gained eyeballs  to record 4815 TVTs (4523) in week 42

Zee TV’s fictional series Qubool Hai ratings dipped  to register 5412 TVTs (5676) .  While Pavitra Rishta saw an increase to score 4736 TVTs (4196). Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke saw a huge increase in viewership and garnered 4660 TVTs (5085).  This week viewership for historical show Jodha Akbar dropped marginally to record  a score of 8551 TVTs (8777). Viewership of drama series Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se dipped and has registered a score of 4726 TVTs (5104).  Dance reality show DID – Dance ka Tashan registered 4572 TVTs on the Finale on Saturday and saw a dip with a score of 2588 TVTs (3056) on Sunday.

Reality show Bigg Boss 7 on Colors lost marginally this week and registered 4246 TVTs (4385) while long running series Balika Vadhu ratings too plunged this week to record 5767 TVTs (6624). Meanwhile a marginal rise in viewership led Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon to record 4230 TVTs (4157). This week Uttaran ratings picked substantially up to record a score of 3663 TVTs (3252)  and comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil viewership has dipped considerably to record 5228 TVTs (6518) . With the track getting interesting, Bani- Ishq Da Kalma has picked up this week to register a score of 3698 TVTs (3233). The new offering ‘24’, the Indian adaptation of the international format on the channel garnered 2776 TVTs (2625) in week 42 of TAM 2013.

Fiction show on SAB TV, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah remains the undisputed channel leader . The show has seen a surge in viewership in week 42 and recorded  a score of 7224 TVTs (6945) . Chidiya Ghar too gained points to record 3386 TVTs (3096).  Lapataganj on the channel gained viewership marginally and registered a score of 2189 TVTs (2090) and Baalveer too notched up points to garner 2750 TVTs (2600).

The popular mythological series Mahadev on Life OK saw a marginal decrease in viewership as it recorded 3316 TVTs (3416). Do Dil Ek Jaan ratings increased marginally to record 1711 TVTs (1669). The other offerings on the channel, namely, Savdhan India did not see much change in its ratings and registered 2563 TVTs (2566) Shapath registered 3460 TVTs (3470). Meanwhile among the new shows on the channel Ek Boond Ishq grabbed eyeballs this week taking its tally to 2,673 TVTs (2,551) and The Bachelorette recorded 1875 TVTs as against last week’s score of 1888 TVTs.

The long running crime series CID on Sony Entertainment Television witnessed a huge plunge   in its ratings and recorded a score of 3229 TVTs (5292) this week. Crime Patrol too saw a decline in viewership and scored 2940 TVTs (3423).  Historical show Maharana Pratap lost viewership in week 42 and registered 2680 TVTs (2772).  KBC on the channel lost points this week to register 3796 TVTs (3960) in Week 42. Fiction series Bade Ache Lagte recorded 2068 TVTs (1860), Jee Le Zara registered 1617 TVTs (1556) and the new offering Nandini lost eyeballs to record a score of  1014 TVTs(1035).

Most of the movie channels gained viewership this week. Zee Cinema saw a rise and registered 205828 GVTs (196371), Star Gold ratings  dipped  to record 179697 GVTs (192339).   Movies OK on the other hand saw an increase in its ratings and recorded 116200 GVTs (115017) . Viewership of the new entrant among movie channels, &pictures has seen improvement to record 64687 GVTs (62839) and same goes for Max which recorded a  score of  199906 GVTs  (177170) as per data recorded  in week 42 of TAM, 2013.
