Twitter: A commercial tool for advertisers

Where there are audiences, advertisers will follow.... and that's the rule of game.

Advertisers need audiences and to get more number of audience they mostly rope in celebrities to make their brand available to the masses. The advertisers especially targets those celebrities for their brands who has a huge fan following and is popular among the masses.

Nowadays, celebrities are using the social networking sites as a medium to get connected with their fans. The medium is same for everyone to reach out to their fans, if some have created their own blogs to stay connected with their fans, say for example ' Amitabh Bachchan blogs regularly others are using Facebook, Twitter to stay connected with their fans. Twitter is quiet popular and hosts lot of celebrity accounts.

Twitter ' a social networking site, which was built to connect people, where an individual can tweet about his/ her work, emotions, plans, anything he/ she wants to tweet and convey to audiences.

Now the social networking sites are not just used for connecting with their friends, family and fans but now advertisers want to make full use of these social networking sites.

To do this, they are luring the celebrities to tweet about brands online, on twitter. As these celebrities already have a huge fan following it will get easier for advertisers to make their brands reach out to many.

Recently an American celebrity Kim Kardashian - who is best known for her social life and her role on the E! reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians', has been roped in by the advertisers. She is getting paid $10, 000 every time she tweets about a product on her "twitter' account. Around 2.7 million fans are following her twitter account. This makes Kim the highest-paid user listed by an advertising agency that sells in-stream ads on the accounts of several celebrities.

To name a few Indian celebrities who have a twitter account are - Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who has 105, 869 fans following, director Karan Johar has 48, 587 fans following, and then actress Sonam Kapoor has 34,959 fan following on her twitter account, and besides them there are many ore who has a twitter account.

Now the question which arises is ' will the advertisers use the same strategy in India, and reach out Indian celebrities to tweet about the products to target the audiences?
