Usha International continues partnership with MI Women’s team for WPL
Usha International, India’s leading consumer durables brand, announced the continuation of its partnership with the Mumbai Indians Women’s team for the 3rd consecutive year for the Women’s T20 league in 2025. This collaboration reinforces Usha’s commitment to championing women’s sports with the vision to grow and empower women athletes.
The most visible change this season will be the makeover that the iconic blue and gold jersey has received – inspired by the city’s coastline, the jersey has acquired a rocklike pattern in coral. With the iconic blue and gold – which embodies trust and ambition – now accented with coral for strength and resilience, the new jersey is a visual declaration of Mumbai’s spirit.
The much-awaited series will begin at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on February 14, hosting six matches before shifting to Bengaluru for the next six games. Debutant venue Lucknow will host the next four matches, with the final leg of the season’s matches slated to be played at the Cricket Club of India (CCI). The Mumbai Indians Women’s team will conclude their league stage with home games against Gujarat and Bangalore on 10th and 11th March, respectively.
Lifting the winner’s trophy in the inaugural T20 league in 2023, and being semi-finalists in 2024, the MI Women’s team has had two great seasons. Further strengthening their squad this year, the team has added 16-year-old power-hitter G Kamalini, Rajasthan’s Akshita Maheshwari, whose 23 wickets in eight U-23 ODI games is impressive, all-rounder Sanskriti Gupta and South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk. Fans are looking forward to some great cricket under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership and Amelia Kerr’s continued brilliance after she guided New Zealand to their maiden Women’s T20 World Cup title. Other players in the MI Women’s squad this season include Yastika Bhatia, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, Shabnim Ismail, and Saika Ishaque.
Komal Mehra, Head of Sports Associations & Initiatives, commented, “With each season, the league has garnered increasing attention and support, captivating fans from all walks of life. The league’s success is paving the way for greater recognition of women’s sports in India, inspiring a new generation and reshaping the landscape of women’s cricket. Usha has been a long-standing partner with the MI family, and we are particularly delighted to have witnessed the rapid growth and increasing competitiveness of women's cricket through this league. As a brand, we are happy to be associated with this positive change.”
Speaking on the partnership, the Mumbai Indians spokesperson said, “We are excited to continue our long association with Usha International and we look forward to a successful journey as we power ahead towards our common vision of growing women’s cricket.”
Usha has been an ardent supporter of inclusive sporting initiatives across the country, with affiliations spanning the Mumbai Indians, Ultimate Flying Disc, Football, Ladies Amateur and Junior Golf, Cricket for the Deaf, and sports for the visually challenged, such as athletics, kabaddi, judo, and powerlifting.
