UTV to beef up regional content to raise TV biz

UTV Software Communications plans to foray into Marathi language content to tap into a growing segment.

UTV made Rs 1.32 billion from its television business, a bulk of which came from air time sales on the Sun TV network channels by March 31, 2009.

UTV will launch two shows on Udaya TV (Kannada) and Gemini TV (Telugu). From November 23, Ratha Sapthami will air every Monday ' Friday at 7 pm on Udaya TV, replacing Radaan Mediaworks' Lakshmi Jhansi Magalu. The show will also be marketed by UTV.

From November 30, UTV's Raktha Sambandham will occupy the Monday-Friday 7.30 pm slot on Gemini TV. The show will replace Balaji Telefilm's Brahmamudi.
