V Ramani passes away; An illustrious career ends
V. Ramani passed away on 1st August 2012. He had been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on 30th July 2012.
He leaves behind an illustrious career in advertising. V.Ramani was one of the earliest names to be associated with the digital space.
He held a Mathematics degree from KJ Somaiya College. Later his career in advertising took off when he joined Lintas and was with them for seven years. Then he joined Unilever brands while simultaneously teaching Actuarial Sciences at LIC. Later came his stint with McCann Erickson, Delhi, when he joined them in December 1989 as their Director for Media Planning and Buying.
He also had a short stint with Ulka Draftfcb and Euro RSCG before joining Contract Advertising with whom he worked for three years.
Ramani’s love for the digital began when he formed Mediaturf in 2000 . He then moved on to Connecturf and Ignitee.
He launched a new venture Parietal in November 2011 in partnership with Harminder Datta, formerly Chief Strategy Officer at Ignitee. With this venture his intention was to bring consumer focused planning back to the media industry.
