Verizon leader in APAC, recognized by IDC MarketScape

IDC has named Verizon Business as a leading player in the Asia-Pacific next-generation telecom services market in the analyst firm's inaugural report on the region, In its report, "IDC MarketScape: Asia/Pacific Next Generation Telecom Services 2010 Vendor Analysis," IDC attributes Verizon's leadership position to the company's "unmatched security capabilities" and strong cloud vision, coupled with its robust network.

This IDC study is the first vendor assessment of the next-generation telecom services market in Asia-Pacific. It analyzes the capabilities and strategies that key telecom service providers will implement in the next three to five years and that can impact the providers' ability to gain market share in the longer term.

IDC defines "next-generation telecom services" to include international IP VPN and Ethernet services, managed services (including cloud services), and professional IT services (excluding support services) that are offered in the Asia-Pacific region. Vendors are evaluated based on their capabilities within the enterprise segment in the region.

Andrew Dobbins, Verizon Business regional vice president, Asia-Pacific, said: "This accolade from IDC further validates our continued investment in our network, solutions, services and people. We are increasingly confident that our capabilities and expertise ' coupled with our secure global IP network and data centers - will enable us to lead the industry as it further evolves toward a cloud-based "everything-as-a-service' model.
