WATCH THE BRITISH ACADEMY FILM AWARDS LIVE EXCLUSIVELY ON PIX

PIX will be airing the much-awaited British Academy Film Awards LIVE at 3:30 am on Monday, 13th February which will be followed by a repeat telecast at 9:00 pm. Often cited as a pre cursor to the Oscars, British Academy Film Awards is a British charity that hosts the annual award show for films, television and video games. This year, the scintillating awards ceremony will be held at London's Royal Opera House. 

PIX has relished its partnership with BAFTA for 3 consecutive years now and has been bringing these prestigious awards to television audiences exclusively in India. British Academy Film Awards play an important role in honoring and developing the film industry’s brightest stars from around the world. PIX has also had the honor of airing British Academy Film Awards winners like The Social Network, The Hurt Locker, Slumdog Millionaire in the past and will bag some big titles this year too.

This year Michel Hazanavicius’s The Artist leads with nominations in 12 categories for this year’s British Academy Film Awards, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.The black-and-white silent film, a big winner at the Golden Globes, sees Hazanavicius nominated for best director and Jean Dujardin nominated for leading actor. His co-star Bérénice Bejo is nominated for a leading actress. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is nominated in 11 categories, Hugo has nine nominations, My Week with Marilyn picked up six nominations and The Help and War Horse are each nominated five times. This year’s best film award will go to one from The Artist, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Descendants, Drive and The Help.

India’s association with the BAFTAs has strengthened over the past years with talent from India winning big. AR Rahman, Anil Kapoor, Shekhar Kapoor, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Freida Pinto are some of the talent power houses who have been associated with the awards in the past. This year Anil Kapoor will be presenting at the British Academy Film Awards 2012, commenting on this Anil Kapoor says, “I am extremely thrilled and delighted to be presenting at the BAFTA this year. It’s an absolute honor to be associated with the BAFTAs and to be returning to the award ceremony for a third time. It is definitely going to be a memorable night among tremendous talent and I am truly looking forward to it.”
