What kind of a host will Anil Kapoor be on ‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’?

The world saw and appreciated Anil Kapoor as the host of the world-famous game show, ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’ in the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionnaire’. Now, the ever-young Anil Kapoor is donning the cap of host for real for the upcoming season of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, which is set to telecast 24X7 on Jio Cinema from June 21 onwards.

During the official launch of the show, the actor opened about many things, including comparisons with original host Salman Khan.

When asked about why he chose to do this show, Anil said, “I am at the stage of my career where I want to do something which I have never done before. I have in a way done non-fiction in the film, which was a global success, that is, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. I have done fiction shows on OTT and television, so this was something I had not done before. I thought why not do this and that is a reason I am doing it. I am excited and happy to do it.”

‘Bigg Boss’ is known for its controversies and controversial content, but the actor explains that he is prepared to deal with all this and said, “Fights happen in every house, we smile and cry, but we don’t get to see it. However, if someone crosses the line to a certain extent, I have to be very fair. I will try to be fair and firm. There would be few things which would be controversial in ‘Bigg Boss’ and they might be uncomfortable as well. But all these things happen and it happens in life too. How you handle it is important and what you have to do is we should not lie to ourselves. If the contestant lies to me, then that is fine, I can handle that, I will get to know that he/ she is lying to me. But if they lie to themselves, then it would be very bad. So, all these things and dynamics I have to keep in mind. You will watch the show 24X7, so I will have to show some empathy and some discipline as well. I will also have to speak wisely to them. I think I will have to think about all this and I will do what I think will be right. I will have to be true to myself, maybe some people will like it, maybe some people won’t like it. But I promise to be true to myself in every situation.”

Salman Khan has been hosting the show successfully for all these years on television. He also hosted the OTT version of the show previously. But Anil does not like the word replacement and said, “Salman is my younger brother and he is my friend. Even I get replaced, sometimes he gets replaced, this is a wrong word. Everyone has work, sometimes for some reason one cannot do it or don’t have time to do it. Recently, I have been replaced in projects. I don’t know the reason for replacement, however these things happen. Many people have replaced me, I have also replaced people. We are just doing a job, we should do it with a lot of sincerity and honesty. I have spoken to Salman and he is happy that I am hosting the show.”

With every season, the audience gets into verbal wars on social media and often drags the hosts for their comments. Talking about it, Anil said, “Let people do trolling. How does it matter? It doesn’t matter to me. I feel trolling is part of life now, it is part of social media, you have to face it. I have always worked with honesty and sincerity and by the grace of God, most of the times its feedback for me has been positive. At times a few things didn’t work, when things didn’t work I kept doing different things. I have been in this industry for 45 years and I would have done something right in my career, that is why I am still here today.”

During the launch of the show, the makers also gave a hint of one of the contestants in the seasons, when they showed an AV which pointed out that Vada Pav girl Chandrika Dixit is the first confirmed contestant.
