Will Pak actor Fawad Khan’s film get a smooth release in India?

Popular Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has begun shooting for his Bollywood movie with Vaani Kapoor in London. The film, titled ‘Abir Gulaal’, is directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Eastwood Studios. Eastwood Studios is founded by ex-executive of Reliance and Phantom Vivek B Agrawal and Devang Dholakia.

With this film, Fawad, who enjoys an immense fan following in India, is returning to Bollywood after eight years. The film recently went on the floors in London, where it will be shot entirely in October and November on a grand scale for two months.

The romantic comedy will revolve around two people who are in the process of healing themselves and fall in love with each other.

Post the terrorist attack in Uri, Pakistani artistes were not allowed to work in Bollywood, and after the Pulwama strike, The All Indian Cine Workers Association and other associations imposed a complete ban on artists across the borders. Since then, no Pakistani artists have acted or performed in India. In fact, a few days back Fawad Khan starrer, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, one of the highest grossing films in Pakistan (Rs 400 crore), was supposed to release in India after his latest show ‘Barzakh’ was released on ZEE5. However, after opposition from various political groups, it could not be released in India.

Fawad has featured in Bollywood films like ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Kapoor & Sons’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. It remains to be seen if ‘Abir Gulaal’, which is going to be released globally, will be allowed to screen in India. So far, the makers of the film are yet to announce a release date and future plans.
