YRF CEO: 'India's stories captivate the world' in global streaming success

YRF Entertainment, the streaming production arm of Yash Raj Films, has achieved a global hattrick with hits like The Romantics, The Railway Men, and now Maharaj.

Reflecting on this success, YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani stated: “At YRF, our goal is to produce content that represents our country, culture, values, and ambitions to a global audience. We meticulously choose and polish our stories because we believe quality content transcends borders and languages.”

He continued: “We aim to make our country proud with our content. The global appreciation for our titles is a validation of our conscious content choices. We strive to create projects that appeal to all quadrants, and it's gratifying to see the worldwide love these titles have received.”

YRF, with over five decades of legacy, aims to position India at the heart of its storytelling. “We are driven to tell the world about India. The India story is what the world wants to see, engage with, and discuss. We want to produce content that becomes global phenomena, like The Railway Men,” Akshaye explained.

Before rolling out their streaming slate, YRF observed the success of projects from South Korea, Japan, Israel, and Spain. “It’s heartening to see The Railway Men join the list of globally acclaimed content, representing India on that esteemed list,” he added.

Looking ahead, YRF is determined to achieve more successes with its upcoming titles. “We are restless storytellers, always aiming to push the envelope with unique and disruptive narratives,” Akshaye said.

YRF’s partnership with Netflix has been instrumental in this global success. “Netflix trusted our vision and was committed to taking these titles worldwide. We share this moment with them for their unwavering support, teamwork, and commitment to brilliant content,” Akshaye remarked.
YRF Entertainment plans to continue surprising audiences with its content choices. “We aim to be a creative catalyst, working with the best talents. Our next projects will discover, groom, and endorse some of the best new and young minds. We will remain a diverse studio, exploring multiple genres,” he shared.

“Our three YRF Entertainment projects reflect our ambition to be risk-taking while keeping content at the center of disruption. Expect to be surprised with every product we make from here on,” Akshaye concluded.
