Zee CInema to air Gadar Ek Prem Katha on January 20

Zee Cinema, will air one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian Cinema, ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’ on Wednesday, 20^th January at 8 PM. Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie is a love story set in 1947 against the backdrop of partition of India and evokes feelings of patriotism, love and compassion.

It is the story of a truck driver, Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a Jatt Sikh, who falls in love with a Muslim girl, Sakina (Amisha Patel), belonging to an aristocratic family. During the Indo – Pak partition, Sakina’s family, headed by Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri)choose to move to Lahore by train. Accidentally, Sakina is left behind and everyone including her family on the train is declared dead. Even as communal riots erupt, Tara shelters a wayward Sakina and their bond blossoms into love. The two eventually get married and have a son.

Seven years later, Sakina learns that her father Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri) is still alive and is now the mayor of Lahore in Pakistan and he arranges for Sakina to visit Lahore. However, he creates obstacles for Tara and their son to enter Pakistan. Upon reaching Lahore, Sakina learns her father's evil plans that include forcing Sakina to forget about her family and start a new life in Pakistan.

Will Tara be able to cross this border and re-unite with his love, Sakina?
