Aashiqui 3 postponed: Kartik-Tripti to star in new romantic film

Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri were set to star in Aashiqui 3, directed by Anurag Basu. The Aashiqui franchise began with Mahesh Bhatt’s musical love story featuring Anu Aggarwal and Rahul Roy in 1990, produced by T-Series. This film was a huge commercial success, with its soundtrack becoming a superhit. In 2013, Aashiqui 2 was released, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, and directed by Mohit Suri. This sequel also performed well at the box office, and rumours about a third installment have circulated for years.

Recently, it was announced that Kartik Aaryan, who delivered a big hit with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 for T-Series, was to star in Aashiqui 3, and the search for the female lead was ongoing. Tripti Dimri, who received positive reviews for her role in Animal, was cast alongside Kartik. However, the latest update indicates that the makers have decided to put Aashiqui 3 on hold for now.

Kartik and Tripti are currently working together on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and are likely to star in another romantic film, although it will not be Aashiqui 3. Anurag Basu, having completed the sequel to his previous hit Life in a... Metro titled Metro... Dino, is expected to direct another romantic drama featuring Kartik and Tripti for T-Series.

On the work front, Kartik is gearing up for the release of his film Chandu Champion, while Tripti has Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video with Rajkummar Rao and Bad Newz with Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk ready for release.
