Anu Sikka and Rohan Lavsi Take on Key Leadership Roles at JioStar

The newly formed JioStar, a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited, Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company, has announced two significant appointments as part of its leadership restructuring.

Anu Sikka will oversee the kids and infotainment business across all platforms at JioStar. Reporting to Alok Jain, who heads the entertainment cluster for the joint venture, Sikka brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at Viacom18 Media Private Limited. She previously served as Business Unit Head for the Kids Cluster, where she played a pivotal role in launching Nickelodeon Sonic, Nick Jr., and Nick HD+, channels that have become cornerstones of children’s programming in India.

Sikka is credited with the success of numerous locally produced animated shows, such as Motlu Patlu, Shiva, Golmaal Jr., Chikoo aur Bunty, and Pinaki & Happy - The Bhoot Bandhus. Her expertise in programming and content strategy will now drive JioStar’s vision for its kids and infotainment offerings.

Meanwhile, Rohan Lavsi has been appointed to lead the Hindi movies business across platforms. Also reporting to Alok Jain, Lavsi steps into the role with a strong background in media strategy and content acquisition. At Viacom18, he successfully headed the Hindi movies cluster for six years, where he developed strategies to enhance viewership and engagement across television and digital platforms.

Lavsi’s extensive responsibilities in his previous roles included movie acquisitions, financial planning, and team development. He also spearheaded several key initiatives in business planning and content syndication during his seven years as VP & Head of Business Planning & Strategy and India Syndication at Viacom18.

Both appointments underline JioStar’s commitment to assembling a team of experienced leaders to shape its expansive media and entertainment portfolio. With their proven track records, Sikka and Lavsi are poised to drive innovation and audience engagement as the joint venture embarks on its ambitious journey in the industry.
