Atul Kumar Chaudhary appointed new secretary of TRAI

The Central Government has appointed Atul Kumar Chaudhary as the new Secretary of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). His appointment comes after the retirement of V Raghunandan last month.

Raghunandan retired on May 31, and his departure was officially announced during the TRAI open house held on May 15. During his tenure, he was responsible for major telecom project executions, telecom enforcement across various regions of the country, and policy implementation.

In his previous roles, Atul Kumar Chaudhary served as the Deputy Director General (DDG) at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and also held the position of DDG at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in 2021.

Chaudhary, a 1989-batch officer of the Indian Telecommunication Services (ITS), graduated from IIT Roorkee and possesses a Master's Diploma in Public Policy and Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
