Avatar earns $73mn in US

James Cameron, whose Titanic hit the screens by storm ha now produced another smasher Avatar.

The 3-D film was hyped since its inception and now Avatar has earned $73mn during its first weekend at American box office.

Though the opening of the film was below the $85 million but reports say that snow storm along the East Coast disrupted the business for all movies and experts are still hopeful about the movie.

With this Avatar has become the sixth-biggest of the year in Us and Canada. In 2009 The Twilight Saga: New Moon set the record with $143 million.
