Big biz misleading people about eco-cause: James Cameron
Taking part in the debate from Los Angeles, aided by unique 3D technology, Cameron says: "What I see in the US is the oil and coal lobbies spending massive amounts of money on a disinformation campaign to discredit science." Cameron goes on to say that the lobbies are "steer[ing] public opinion away from any sense of social responsibility about climate change."
Cameron's recent work, Avatar, has been fêted as the most daring environmental-advocacy movie ever made. Avatar has galvanised environmental activists across the world to intensify their efforts.
As for the Earth's Frontiers debate, it airs on CNN International on Thursday, April 29th at 1800hrs and 2200hrs; Saturday, May 1st at 1300hrs and 2300hrs; and Sunday, May 2nd at 0830hrs, 1300hrs, and 2030hrs IST.
The programme, hosted by CNN's Anna Coren, is expected to beam into 250 million households around the world. The discussion features Cameron; President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed; chairman and CEO of Puma, Jochen Zeitz; and Changhua Wu, Greater China Director of the Climate Group.
