Gaurav Banerjee Takes the Helm as Managing Director and CEO of SPNI

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) is entering a new phase with Gaurav Banerjee taking over as the Managing Director and CEO. Banerjee officially assumed his role on Monday, marking the start of a new leadership era for the network. “We welcome Gaurav Banerjee as our new MD & CEO, at Sony Pictures Networks India. With his vision to propel SPNI's legacy forward and set new benchmarks in the industry, SPNI will continue in its endeavour of execution excellence,” SPNI shared on social media.

Banerjee's appointment is anticipated to steer SPNI out of its recent challenges and enhance the performance of its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel, SET India. During his tenure at Star India, Banerjee was instrumental in launching highly successful shows that topped the charts on both linear TV and digital platforms. As Head of the Hindi Content Studio, he introduced a series of shows that consistently ranked among the top 10. Notably, one of his standout achievements was the launch of Anupama, which has been a significant hit and is currently in its fourth year. This series, adapted from the Bengali show Sreeymoyi on Star Jalsha and the Marathi show Aai Kuthe Kay Karte! on Star Pravah, became the leading show in Hindi GEC Urban right after its debut in 2020.
