Get set for Ritesh Deshmukh’s double bonanza on OTT this week

Ritesh Deshmukh is all set to have a series and a film releasing on the same day on different OTT platforms this week. ‘Kakuda’ featuring Ritesh with Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Salim is premiering on ZEE5 on July 12, and another series, ‘Pill’, featuring Ritesh is slated to release on the same date on JioCinema.

The actor is currently busy promoting both his projects simultaneously and has contrasting characters to play in both of them. In ‘Kakuda’, he plays a ghost hunter and it is a light hearted role, which he has done in some of his previous films. On the other hand, in ‘Pill’ he is portraying the role of a doctor. It is a serious role and has different shades to it. ‘Pill’ is his debut OTT series.

The story of horror-comedy ‘Kakuda’ revolves around a village in Uttar Pradesh, where a mystery character Kakuda arrives at 7.15 pm on every Tuesday and if the small door of the house is not open at that time, then the people residing in that house has to face his wrath. The film is directed by ‘Munjya’ director Aditya Sarpotdar.

‘Pill’ deals with unethical pharmaceutical practices. Ritesh’s character along with other whistleblowers take it upon themselves to uncover the nexus between pharma companies, middlemen and doctors and how it deprives patients of access to genuine medicines. During their mission they face various issues and threats.

Meanwhile, Ritesh will be seen replacing actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar as a host for ‘Marathi Bigg Boss’ soon in the upcoming season. Apart from that, he will be seen in films like Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Visfot’ starring Fardeen , which will also release on an OTT platform. His second film is ‘Raid 2’, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, which also stars Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor and others.
