Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile on ZEE TV explores love in an Aata Sata marriage
“Can a relationship born out of duty blossom into true love in an Aata Sata Marriage”? That’s the compelling question at the heart of Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, Zee TV’s upcoming primetime drama, set to premiere on 11th November 2024 at 9:30 PM.
This bold new show explores the intricate dynamics of a traditional yet seldom-discussed custom: the aata saata marriage. A deeply rooted practice in parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, the aata saata arrangement sees two couples—one from each family—marry into each other, creating strong family ties based on reciprocal obligation. The happiness and stability of both unions become interdependent, making this unique tradition a delicate balancing act that profoundly impacts both families.
The show revolves around two strong-willed protagonists, Reet (played by Ayushi Khurana) and Raghav (portrayed by Bharat Ahlawat). Reet, a bold and independent reporter from Gwalior, agrees to marry Raghav not for love, but as a “guarantee” for her brother’s happiness. Raghav, a complex man with a successful construction business and an intense devotion to his sister, Unnati, seeks to secure her future by marrying Reet, ensuring that if his sister is mistreated, Reet will be held accountable. The show’s central theme poses a poignant question: Can a relationship born out of family duty and obligation evolve into a true, loving partnership?
Mangesh Kulkarni, Chief Channel Officer at Zee TV, commented: “Marriage in India is not just a union, but a celebration of life through a blend of traditions and cultural nuances. With Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, we aim to explore the emotional stakes of the aata saata marriage, shedding light on how love and family honour intersect. The journey of Reet and Raghav is one where love blossoms in the most unexpected of circumstances.”
The show is conceptualized by Sonnal A. Kakar and produced by Goldie Behl and Sonnal A. Kakar under Rose Audio Visuals Pvt. Ltd. It promises to bring a fresh perspective on the collision of old-world traditions and the progressive values of today’s generation.
Sonnal A. Kakar shared: “This show delves into the individuals whose lives are shaped by such customs. Reet and Raghav’s journey is one of transformation, where a seemingly transactional marriage has the potential to evolve into a deep emotional connection.”
Goldie Behl, the producer, added: “Zee TV and I share a longstanding partnership, and with this show, we’re excited to delve into a unique cultural insight that resonates with today’s viewers. It’s a story that not only entertains but also engages viewers on a deeper level.”
Ayushi Khurana, who plays the fearless Reet, expressed her excitement, saying: “Reet is a strong character who challenges societal norms, which made her a fascinating role to take on. I look forward to the viewers connecting with her journey.”
Bharat Ahlawwat, who portrays Raghav, shared: “This story is beyond a typical love story. It’s about navigating tradition, duty, and the emotional complexities of marriage. I’m eager for audiences to see Raghav’s evolution.”
The show’s launch event in Mumbai featured stand-up comedian Abijit Ganguly, who lightened the mood with his humorous take on relationships and marriage, setting the stage for the series and introducing the lead actors with wit and insight.
