Grey today announced the appointment of award winning art director Karan Rawat as ECD Art to partner Mumbai ECD Rohit Malkani.

Announcing the first creative hire made by them after joining Grey, NCD's Amit Akali and Malvika Mehra expressed their delight in having this talent in the team.

Karan Rawat was with Enterprise Nexus (Bates India) for 6 years as Creative Director before turning independent creative director. He started his career with McCann-Erickson as a visualiser and went on to spend four years with JWT as senior art director. Karan has been the recipient of many creative awards including the prestigious Gold at the Abby for Best Campaign in 2001 as well a Gold and Silver Abby for Best Art Direction in the year 2007. His work on Killer has won awards since 2002, other campaigns to win awards include those for NECC, Times of India, Smirnoff and Ravissant.

On his joining Grey, Karan said, "While studying at Sir JJ School School of Applied Arts some fifteen years ago, Trikaya Grey (now Grey) was the dream agency to work at. It was one of the few agencies who produced memorable, award-winning advertising combining great copy and brilliant art direction. Back then it had all the big creative minds like Alok Nanda, Kanad Banerjee, Preeti Vyas, Ganga and Nalesh and Vikas Gaitonde to name a few. I wanted to work there." He added, "Today Grey is an agency on the move and is enjoying positive momentum with significant new business wins and high profile hires. I am excited to be joining Grey from 1st June and to be working with Malvika Mehra, Amit Akali and my copy partner, Rohit Malkani to make Grey a much sought after agency and a "dream place" for creative talent. It's a great opportunity for me and I am really glad to be part of Grey and to head Art for the Mumbai office."

Grey's NCD's, Amit Akali said, "The great thing about Karan is that not only has he consistently won awards but that he has contributed significantly to building brands like Killer. He is somebody who is respected by clients, his peers and his juniors", while Malvika Mehra added, "We're pleased to welcome Karan on board as ECD art and Joint Creative Head of Grey Mumbai. Together he and Rohit will make a formidable team. And we look forward to working closely with them to create some great work for Grey Mumbai."

On Karan's appointment, Rohit Malkhani, Mumbai ECD said, "Karan comes in at a critical juncture in Grey's new creative journey and thrust. From the first time I met him I was sure he was the man for the role. He is immensely talented and a wonderful partner to have on board."
